Cookie Policy
This policy describes the cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, fingerprinting) used on protan.ai and its subdomains, and the personal data processed through them.

1. What a cookie is
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. They let a site's basic functions work, remember your preferences and measure traffic. In this policy "cookie" is used broadly, covering local storage, session storage, web beacons and SDKs that do the same job.
2. The categories we use
protan.ai uses two categories of cookie. There is no third.

Analytics cookies are set only with your explicit consent. Until you give it, no analytics cookie is written and the measurement code is not loaded into your browser at all.
3. First-party and third-party cookies
Every cookie we set is first-party. There are no third-party cookies on this site:
- Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google Tag Manager are not used.
- Meta Pixel and comparable remarketing pixels are not used.
- No data is shared with advertising networks.
Measurement runs on our own server and the data collected does not leave our site. The single exception is that an IP address is looked up against a geolocation service to determine the country and city a visit came from; the result of that lookup is cached and is not linked to an individual.
At the payment step you are taken to the secure payment page of the payment institution, Dodo Payments, on its own domain. Cookies set there belong to Dodo Payments and are governed by its policy. There is no embedded payment form on our site and your card details never reach our server.
AI engines do not set cookies here. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok are not embedded in protan.ai pages; interaction with them happens server-side during a scan and leaves nothing in your browser. Those names are trade marks of their respective owners; protan.ai is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
4. Managing your choices
The first time you visit, a cookie banner appears at the foot of the page. It offers two choices: accept analytics cookies, or continue with strictly necessary cookies only. Both are one click away — refusing is no harder than accepting, and it does not restrict the site in any way.
Once you decide, the banner closes. You can change your choice at any time from the box at the top of this page, which also shows which choice is currently in force. When you withdraw consent, any analytics cookie already set is deleted.

The pt_iz cookie carries nothing but a randomly generated identifier. It contains no name, e-mail or other personal detail, and it is written only if you have consented to analytics cookies.
6. How this relates to measurement data
Cookies are independent of what protan.ai actually measures. A scan's score is calculated from your publicly available website, from public records and — in paid packages — from the answers returned by AI engines. It is not calculated from anything in your browser. Refusing cookies does not affect a free scan or the performance of a package you have bought.

7. Your rights
For personal data processed through cookies you have the rights described in the Privacy Policy, including the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Requests go to info@protan.ai.
8. Changes
This policy is updated as the technology on our site and the applicable law change. The effective date is shown at the top of the page.
